Champs of Al Ain Club arrived home on Tuesday 13th March coming for the British capital London clinching 14 colored medals following their exceptional participation in the Grand Slam Championship held during the period 10-11 March. Al Ain players won 5 gold medals, 7 silvers and two bronzes to push their balance up to 2940 points.

The winners of the gold medals and placed first in the competition were Hamad Al Ahbabi, Obeid Salem Al Nuaimi, Mahra Al Hanaai, Shouq Abdullah and Mira Al Rashedi. As for the winners of the silver medals, they were Omar Al Hashemi, Yahya Al Nuaimi, Ghanim Al Jaberi, Salem Al Dhaheri, Khalid Al Taher, Khalid Al Darmaki, and Shama Al Ma’amari. As for bronze medals, they went to Abdul Aziz Al Azani and Maha Al Hanaai.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, congratulated all women on the occasion of International Women’s Day which falls on March 8th of each year and expressed her pride and honor in all Emirati women. “Under the leadership of H.H. On the occasion of the National Sports Day, Al Ain Club organized a number of sports activities under the theme “Emirates Brings Us Together” on the outdoor fields of Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium with a significant participation of institutions, communities and the Club’s staff.

The schedule of the event kicked off with holding several competitions, including: five-a-side football tournament. 8 teams participated in the football tournament representing the institutions and communities located in Al Ain. Additionally, a volleyball tournament was organized with the participation of 8 teams representing Al Ain institutions and communities. Al Ain Jujitsu Team also participated in the event by a breathtaking demonstration of their fine and quality skills in martial arts. Prestige Gym champs entertained the audience by their spectacular body building demonstration. Medical care and assistance was provided by Medior Hospital staff who were on alert to handle any emergency situations via their modern ambulances. AT the stage designed for this event, the traditional national songs were played highlighting the importance of this special day being celebrated in all regions of UAE.

At the end of the event, Mr. Ahmed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Sports Director of Al Ain Sports Games Club honored the participating institutions and crowned the winning teams in competitions held on the occasion of the National Sports Day.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, expressed his pleasure to receive Prince Moulay Rachid, brother of King Mohammed VI of Morocco to attend the opening of the third session of the cultural heritage event “Morocco in Abu Dhabi”.

Egypt’s Amro Saeed, Head Coach of Al Ain Junior Handball Teams, praised the exceptional interest of Al Ain Sports Games Company in holding such festivals and supporting the handball game in establishing a sloid base of the game. He pointed out: “100 students participated in the first phase and 40 of them were selected as they met the pre-set specifications based on which they will be trained on the basics of the game and then to develop their skills to be the nucleus of future Al Ain handball teams.”

Ahmed Al Bloushi, Director of Junior Teams, expressed his sincerest thanks to Al Ain Sports Games Company for supporting such festivals which will contribute significantly in improving the handball game future in Al Ain Club. He stated: “Holding such festivals is considered a cornerstone for building up the sound foundations of handball game in Al Ain Club and presenting the players of junior teams elegantly besides improving their skills and following up their progress until they join the first team.” He praised the idea of holding the festival and the success attained through its activities which is greatly supported by Al Ain Sports Games Company and Abu Dhabi Education Council through facilitating visits to certain schools in Al Ain City and selecting a number of skillful students to join Al Ain handball junior teams.

Al Ain Sports Games Company organized its first festival of handball juniors this year with the participation of 40 students from various schools of Al Ain City in the indoor court at Al Nahyania School in Al Ain. The participants exhibited their skills in handball they gained through the intensive training sessions supervised by the Club’s professional coaches. Players were split into four teams and competed in two matches to show their level or readiness. The players displayed high and quality skills in handball game, the matter that assured the game supervisors of Al Ain Club of the promising future of the handball game in the Club. At the end of the festival, Ahmed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Sports Director of Al Ain Sports Games Company, Mohammed Saeed, Director of Technical Affairs, and Ahmad Al Bloushi, Director of Junior Handball Teams, honored the distinguished players. Al Nuaimi then addressed the players with words of encouragement urging them to pay attention to their academic achievement, in addition to improving their talents and skills in handball by attending regularly the training sessions to become talented and elite handball players in the future and provide the added value through their achievements to UAE in general and Al Ain Club in particular.

Establishing a fund for supporting sports talent and unleashing their potential is an incentive for all businesses and individuals in the country to contribute to the efforts made by the state departments to launch a sports transformational drive in the UAE, H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has stated.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza’s remarks come following an announcement by Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Chairman the General Authority for Sports, that more than 30 state and private departments are ready to contribute to the launch of a fund for supporting sports talent in the country.

Al Rumaithi’s statements came a few days following the launch of a national sports development initiative.

Sports is a main pillar of social development and a robust catalyst for empowerment of youth across all fields, H.H. Sheikh Hazza added, expressing hope to see wider contribution to such constructive initiatives.

Sheikh Hazza commended the efforts made by Major General Al Rumaithi to ensure a sports evolution across the country, affirming that the UAE will continue to develop the sports scene and to sustain efforts aimed at grooming talent and unleash their potential for the creation of a better future for generations to come.

Al Ain Men’s Volleyball Team achieved a significant and prominent victory over the visitors, Al Nasr Volleyball Team, with three clean rounds by the end of the first stage of the Volleyball Premier League in the match held at the indoor court of Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain Club on Friday 2nd March.

Following a fervent competition between the two teams, Al Ain stars were able finish the first round by 25-23 in their favor. After the break, Al Ain squad dominated the second round and thrashed Al Nasr by 25-19. The winners of the two rounds were determined to finish the third round by their own style and with 7 points gap 25-18.

By this stunning result, Al Ain did complete the first stage of the league by 30 points and placed third in the standing table. The team is ready now for the playoff stage where it is scheduled to meet Shaba Al Ahli Dubai who are placed second in the standing table in two legs match. The first leg match will be held on 16th March at the indoor court of Shaba Al Ahli Dubai Club and the second leg match will be held in Al Ain Club on 20th March.
