In an honoring ceremony held at the indoor court of Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium, Al Ain Sports Games Company celebrated its professional Serbian volleyball player Vladimir whose contract with the team came to an end. The ceremony was attended by Abdullah Al Darmaki, Vice Chairman of Al Ain Sports Games Company, Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Sports Manager, Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Team Administrative Manager of the team, and the technical and medical staff along with the team’s players. The farewell ceremony was held to pay tribute to Vladimir for his stunning efforts and dedication during the whole period he spent with the team that helped his teammates to win the title of the Volleyball League in the past season and the title of the Vice President’s Cup this current season.
Khuwaiter Saeed Al Dhaheri, Member of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Sports Games Club and Supervisor of Individual Games, hailed the efforts exerted by the Board of Directors of Al Ain Club in promoting the level of individual games at the club.
He stated: “These efforts are realized on actual ground through the teams’ previous participations and the last one was taking part in the UAE Swimming Cup held during 26 and 27 January 2018 at Hamdan bin Mohammed Olympic Stadium in Dubai where the Ainawi female team achieved new records.” He added: “Al Ain Club female swimmers participated for the third time in this competition where Mahra Al Bloushi snatched the bronze medal to be the first female swimmer in the club to win a colored medal. Also, Yasmin Saif who was placed fourth in another competition.”
He pointed out: “In UAE Swimming Cup, Al Ain female swimmers surprised the experts and professionals by their stunning performance in the pool by showing their fighting spirit while competing with their peers from other clubs who enjoy rich experience in such competitions.”
Khuwaiter commended the great role played by the swimmers’ parents and their great support for the daughters. He urged them to exert more efforts in supporting their daughters to attend the training sessions and stand by them during tournaments which witnessed a fierce competition but the champs were up to expectations and were able to defend the logo of Al Ain Club and be crowned at the podiums.
“At the level of male competitions, Al Ain Club launched the “Champ” Project which is massively supported by the Board of Directors of Al Ain Club and significantly contributes to the breaking of records,” said he.
Khuwaiter concluded by saying: “Records were broken in the recent UAE Swimming Cup by the Ainawi swimmers Ahmad Al Hashemi and Hamdan Al Bloushi who have broken 3 records in chest competitions.”
Al Ain swimmers achieved new records at the level of the State and advanced positions in U-16 UAE Swimming Cup held during 26- 27 January 2018 at the Olympic swimming pool at Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai.
A number of clubs and sports academies partaken in the competitions. Al Ain Club’s swimmers were able to break records in a number of competitions during the tournament, namely: Saif Ghareeb Al Bloushi who scored a new record in the 200 meters back competition within a record of 3:02:12; Mohammed Rashed AL Kuwaiti who achieved in the 200-meter chest 3:02:48; Ahmed Al Hashemi 100-meteres chest in 1:07:37, and Hamdan Al Bloushi in 200-meters free in 2:06:91.
Not only did Al Ain swimmers notch new records, but they also snatched a number of colored medals and as follows: Ahmed Al Hashemi won the gold medal in the 50, 100 and 200 meters breast races and the silver medal in the 50 meters freestyle at U-15 and U-16 competitions; Zayed Al Arifi won the gold medal in the 100-meters back race and the silver medal in the 50-meters back race; Mohammed Rashid Al-Kuwaiti won the silver medal in the 50 and 200- meters breast races in U-11 and U-12 competitions; Hamdan Al Bloushi won the silver medal of the 200 meters freestyle in U-15 and U-16 competitions and Suhail Salim won the bronze medal in the 50-meters back in in U-15 competitions.
As for the female swimmer of Al Ain Club, they did well in their third participation in the competitions. Mahra Ghareeb Al Bloushi was able to snatch the bronze medal in the 50-meters butterfly race in in U-13 and U-14 competitions, while Yasmin Saif was placed fourth in 50-meters back race in U-11 and U-12 competitions.
H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, mourned the loss of H.H. late Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Nahyan, the mother of the Head of State H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed tweeted on Sunday, “With the hearts of the faithful satisfied with Allah’s acts, we mourn the loss of the late dear mother of the Head of the State, Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Nahyan, and ask Allah to accept all she offered in acts of kindness and giving and allow her to dwell in the highest paradise and to grant us patience and solace. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
Ministry of Presidential Affairs issued a statement this morning mourning the late Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Nahyan, the mother of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sheikh announcing that the official mourning period will for 3 days and will see flags flown at half-mast.

Worth mentioning, the project is the world’s largest freshwater storage project. It has a network of 315 wells that extend under Liwa desert with a storage capacity of more than 5.6 billion gallons of fresh water.

He pointed out that ADWEA through its great potentials at the level of human and technical expertise and its productive capacity of electricity and water, is able to move ahead with the excellence and success journey to ensure the achievement of sustainability principle in this sector.
Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed praised the existing partnerships between State institutions and foremost international companies in the implementation of vital and central projects in view of UAE prestigious leading position at the regional and international levels.
Noteworthy, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has already announced the completion of this strategic project on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week assuring arriving at the level of storage capacity of the water reserve and the successful start-up of the project by pulling out part of the stored water from the storage basin into the water network by the end of 2017. The storage basin currently has more than 26 million cubic meters of water which is equivalent to 5.6 billion gallons allowing the supply of drinking water when needed.
The project contributes to boosting water security in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through transferring desalinated water from desalination plants through pipes network and injecting it into the underground reservoirs system consisting of 315 of 80-meter deep wells. The desalinated water is filtered prior injecting it over the underground water layer in the basins through an underground pipe system relying on gravity as a driving force. The project aims to achieve the society’s well-being in the long term through the conservation and development of groundwater resources, recognizing the need to develop more injection and recovery projects to provide water flexibly and meet the requirements of different sectors.
The cost of the strategic freshwater storage project in Liwa is estimated at 1.61 billion dirhams in one of the world’s driest regions with an annual precipitation of 10 cm to pump out more than 40 million gallons of fresh water reserves daily to enhance qualities of drinking water supplies when needed.
The total length of the project pipelines exceeds 300 km with a maximum diameter of 1.2 m. The pipeline parts were transported to the desert and assembled using high precision welding technology and by implementing the highest levels of monitoring, follow-up and thorough checkups to ensure the quality of the welded points to ensure lack of water leakage points using X-ray techniques, in addition to testing the network capacity to withstand the high pressure of water flowing through them over the next 50 years at least.
The project was conducted using environmentally friendly materials according to the highest engineering specifications which are appropriate to the region in all stages of construction and implementation of the project. The leakage basin was isolated using protective materials and a mixture of gravel and other well selected materials. These gravels are featured by their large pores to equally distribute water and ensure better filtration processes. The perimeter of the basin has been fenced with a three-tiered fence of palm fronds to create a buffer zone to protect groundwater and avoid any incidents of contamination of stored groundwater while monitoring and controlling equipment is operated using solar panels.
H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, emphasized that Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road on Mafraq-Al Ghuwaifat International Road is an immense achievement that comes as a culmination of years of hard work and a new point of contact with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Sheikh Hamadan bin Zayed, Representative of Abu Dhabi Ruler in Dhafra, announced on Wednesday naming the Mafraq-Ghuwaifat International Highway to be Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road. “It achieved a world record in Guinness Book of Records as the longest international highway using LEDs to lighten the road and intersections.
Abdullah Al Darmaki, Vice Chairman of Al Ain Sports Games Club Company, said: “Contracting with the Hungarian “international” player Arpad Parouti, is consistent with the desire of Al Ain Club to go on winning titles in the coming period.” He expressed his wishes that the newcomer player will be of an added value to the efforts of the volleyball team during the coming matches.
Al Darmaki pointed out: “Al Ain Volleyball Team has been competing since the kickoff the season to win all titles and we hope that the player will be up to our expectations and ambitions as a new valuable addition to the squad.”
He pointed out: “Indeed, it is difficult to find the right player in the mid-season, but we were successful to contract with a distinguished player enjoying a good resume.” He explained that the contract will last till the end of the current season and is renewable.
Argentina’s Head Coach of Al Ain Volleyball First Team, George Constrasti, welcomed the Hungary’s “international” player and expressed his pleasure to have him onboard following signing to Al Ain until the end of the current season.
“I am happy that Al Ain Club has contracted with Parouti. He is a young player, enjoys good experience and surely will exhibit stunning performance,” said the Head Coach. He added, “he will play a key role with Al Ain squad in the coming period and will play in the scheduled two friendly matches prior the next round of the league. We will assess his adaptation and harmony with his teammates.”
Argentina’s Head Coach concluded by saying: “We have to praise the Serb’s Vladimir who left the team due to resurgence injury for all his efforts in the previous period and his achievements with the club. I do wish him all the best in his future.”
The newcomer to Al Ain Volleyball First Team, Arpad Parouti, expressed his pleasure to be in UAE and sign to Al Ain Club, the Champion of Premier Volleyball League last year and the Vice-President Cup this season. He pointed out: “I hope to be of an added value to the team’s efforts and to contribute directly in winning the titles that the “Boss” is competing to win this year.”
“I have already started my training sessions and things look alright so far. Indeed, there are a group of excellent players whom I look forward to adapting with promptly,” said he.
Noteworthy, Parouti, 27 years, played previously to four Italian clubs, namely: Ibo Valentia, Ferro Monza, Panca Milano and Citta Castello. Additionally, he played to Germany’s “Berlin” Club and South Korea’s “Rush and Cash” Club.
Captain of Al Ain Volleyball First Team, Mohammed Shamal, welcomed the Hungary’s player underscoring that he will promote the strike force of the team along with his teammates, specially he enjoys great experience he gained while playing with a number of Italian, German and South Korean teams.
