Majd Al Sarrah, the Syrian head coach of Al Ain Basketball Team, underlined that the coming match against Al Sharjah scheduled to be held on Monday 1st October as part of matchweek 2 of the Vice-President’s Cup will be difficult and a big challenge to overcome. “It is all about experience which plays a decisive role in such clash matches, given that Al Sharjah has quality and experienced players contrary to our young players who were promoted to the first team just recently.”

The head coach stated: “Reasons behind losing our recent match against Al Dhafra could be summarized in two factors. First, the opponent players are taller than ours. Second, the massive difference in experience which was in favor of Al Dhafra players.”

As for his team’s preparations for Al Sharjah match, Al Sarrah commended the players’ commitment to attend the daily training sessions and exerting sincere efforts to improve their performance. He signed off: “They are determined to play differently from their first match and execute the pre-set plan developed by coaching team to play competitively against Al Sharjah.”

H.E. Khuwaiter Al Dhaheri, Board Member of Al Ain Sports Games Company and Supervisor of individual games, expressed his deep pleasure by the remarkable results achieved by Al Ain Jujitsu teams in the first-round competitions of the President’s Cup.

Al Dhaheri indicated: “Despite changing the regulations of the championship, Al Ain champs achieve great positive results in this round. We do promise to achieve more great and impressive results in the coming rounds.”

Khuwaiter extended his appreciation to Al Ain players stressing that the management will continue supporting the team and providing them with the appropriate atmosphere to win more cups and tournaments this season.

Al Ain Jujitsu champs clinched the 1st place in the youth category by the end of first round competitions of the President’s Cup held at Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, Al Ain men and juniors’ teams were placed third.

Indeed, 100 players of 16 clubs from all emirates took part in the competitions of the first round which is classified into three categories: juniors, youth and men.

The starting lineup of Al Ain youth team who clinched the first place in the first round included the following players: Khalifa Murad Al Bloushi, Diab Hilal Al Nuaimi, Hazza Salem AL Shamsi, Abdullah Al Sa’edi, Khaled Salem Al Shamsi and Khaled Ahmad Al Haj.

Noteworthy, Al Ain Jujitsu Team has been crowned the champs of the recent two editions of the President’s Cup and look forward to maintaining their superiority in the second round of the competitions scheduled to be held in Al Dhabi in December 2018.

With full determination, Al Ain Men’s Volleyball Team defeated Al Jazira Team by three rounds in mtachweek2 of the Vice-President’s Cup held at the indoor court of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

Al Ain squad were not lucky enough when they lost the first round to Al Jazira by 17-25. However, the team players decided to respond strongly, and they did it when they won the other three rounds by 25-18 in the second round and 25-21 and 25-20 in the third and fourth rounds.

The Boss is scheduled to play against Al Wasl next Friday 5th October at the indoor court of Al Jazira Club.

Al Ain Men’s Handball Team was held at a draw by Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Team by 26-26 in Group B of the preliminary round of UAE Handball Cup held at the indoor court of Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain Club.

The first half ended by 13-13 each and it is scheduled that Al Ain is to play against Al Dhafra Team on 13th October in the Western Region.

Brazil’s Luciano Papke, Head Coach of Al Ain Volleyball Club, stressed that the team has completed their training sessions and preparations and fully ready for the team’s coming match against Al Jazira. “Our squad is ready, specially the national team players have already re-joined the team. I am sure we will win to maintain our leading position in the standing table,” he said.

The Brazilian coach indicated that the team proved their superiority in the friendly match against Oman’s national team. “Indeed, we did not suffer any pressures in that match which was contrary to our match against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai of the Vice-President’s Cup where I gave the opportunity to young non-experienced players.”
Noteworthy, Al Ain team concluded their training sessions on Thursday 27th September and looking forward to winning their match against Al Jazira as part of matchweek2 scheduled to be held at the indoor court of Shabab Al Ahli Club.

Checking on Al Ain Basketball player, Saud Al Zeir Al Badi, who was attended to Al Ain Hospital suffering from an injury in hyoid bone during a training session, a delegation from Al Ain Sports Games Company paid a visit to the player on Thursday 27th September.

The delegation was headed by H.E. Saleh Al Shaili, Board Member of Al Ain Sports Games Company, Ahmed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Sports Director, Nasr El Dein Hamed, Director of Sports Games, Al Zeir Rashed Al Badi, Manager of Al Ain Basketball Club, and Majd Mohammad Al Sarrah, Head Coach of Al Ain Basketball Team. The visiting delegation expressed their sincerest and heartful wishes of speed recovery and passed him the greetings of all his teammates.

On this occasion, the player expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Al Ain Sports Games Company for their interest and caring for the players of the team. “Indeed, this visit raised my morale and hope I will recover soon to join my team again and play the rest of the matches of this season.”

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has hailed the Union of Arab Football Associations’ decision to name the current edition of Arab Club Champions Cup “Zayed Club Champions Cup” as a sign of the recognition and appreciation enjoyed by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza extended sincere thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi Crown Prince and Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defence, for their support to the championship.

UAFA has earlier decided to change the name of the current edition of the Arab Club Champions Cup to “Zayed Club Champions Cup” in recognition of the colossal contributions made by the UAE Founding Leader.

In their first match following the decision to resume its their activities, Al Ain Basketball Team lost to Al Dhafra by 27-91 in matchweek 1 of the Vice-President’s Cup. The match was held at the indoor court of Al Sharjah Club.

In their debut after 3 years of absence, Al Ain team played the match with a starting line-up of new young players who were selected to be the nucleus of a good team.

The team is scheduled to play against Al Wasl in matchweek 2 of the Cup competitions on Monday 1st October 2018 at the indoor court of Al Sharjah.

Mustafa Al Ka’abi, Manager of Al Ain First Handball Team, stressed that the team’s preparations for the coming match against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai are going as planned. “Players are at the highest levels of readiness and sights are set win the guests and back to the victories track,” he said.

On the team’s loss in the previous match, he commented: “We closed the chapter of the match against Al Wasl and we are all focused to redouble our efforts to avoid mistakes committed last match.”

On the other hand, the team conducted their daily training sessions at the indoor court of Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in preparation for the match of Shabab Al Ahli scheduled to be held on Friday 28th September in Al Ain Club.
