H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri, President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation (UAEWJF), contacted Hungary’s, Marius Pfizer, the President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), on Thursday 19th August 2019 apologizing for being unable to attend the events of the World Judo Championship scheduled to be held Japan’s capital Tokyo during 25-31 August 2019.

Noteworthy, the JDF General Assembly is scheduled to be held during activities of the championship.

H.E. Al Deri has tasked Nasser Al Tamimi, the Secretary-General of the UAEWJF to attend the sessions of the General Assembly and to convey his greetings and appreciation to the organizing committee of the championship for their kind invitation.

H.E. Al Deri received this invitation as one of the ambassadors of the International Judo Federation for Extraordinary Friendship and Peace. He also holds the Honor Card signed by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the IJF Honorary President, recognized by 200 member states.

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri promised to attend the future sessions and wished the organizing committee of the championship all the best and to achieve the desired goals.

He also extended his sincerest best wishes of success to the UAE National Team participating in the championship chaired by H.E. Naser Al Tamimi, the UAEWJF Secretary-General and IJF Secretary-General, in addition to Maitha Al Neyadi, the Emirati judo player who participates in the weight under 57 kg., Victor in the weight under 73 kg, and Ivan in under 100 kg.. the championship sees the participation of 149 countries, including 11 Arab countries.

During the activities of the championship, the IJF General Assembly is scheduled to be held to elect the new Board of Directors in its new session which extends until 2023, on Friday 23rd August 2019.

It was reported that the UAE candidate Nasser Al Tamimi would retain his position as no other candidates have been nominated to compete to occupy the position. Reports stated that Al Tamimi enjoys an excellent reputation and great relationships with the representatives of the state members. Add to that, he gained vast and deep experience through his work, and it is proved by being able to diversify the IJF income sources which are fulfilled via various sources.
Reports also highlighted his extraordinary media efforts that contributed to the establishment of many Judo training and development centers.

Based on the above facts, H.E. Naser Tamimi won by acclamation the position of the Secretary-General of the IJF Fund for the fourth session in a row, which began since the 2007 season.

On the other hand, 26 countries confirmed their participation in the eleventh edition of the Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam “Tolerance” Championship, which will be held during 24-26 October 2019 in Abu Dhabi.

Al Deri hailed holding the championship under the title “Tolerance Championship” as part of the “Tolerance Year” initiative launched by His Highness the President of the UAE to foster the position of the UAE as the global capital of tolerance.
Notably, this year championship will witness the participation of World’s Refugees Team for the first time. The involvement of the refugees’ team comes as an actual realization of the strategy of the IJF.

Additionally, the Tolerance Judo Championship will see the participation of Curacao, one of the islands of the Caribbean, for the first time.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, wishing him continued good health and wellbeing and further prosperity to the people of the UAE.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza also extended his Eid greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Deputy Rulers, and Crown Princes.

Sheikh Hazza prayed to Allah Almighty to keep the UAE a land of goodness, tolerance, well-being, and prosperity.

Al Ain Archery Team started their preseason preparations on Tuesday 6th August 2019 at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium with the participation of all players.

The head coach, Egypt’s Ameera Nader, led the training session. The coach focused on physical fitness training and tactics to identify the players’ fitness and identify their needs to further boost their level of performance.

The Al Ain Archery Team comprises a group of 20 males and one female athletes for the age groups of 2002-2007. There is a 24-year-old female player. Male players have four players for the age category of 2005-2009 and three players over 35 years old.

The team seeks to prepare well for the new season to participate in the local league with the aim to have all players pass the technical tests to join the UAE Archery National Team. The national team is participating in two important tournaments, that are Arab Championship in Tunisia in October 2019, and the Asian Championship for teams in Bangkok next November 2019.

The team will continue its intensive daily training sessions at its main training halls at Hajar Hall in Al Ain after the providing the players with all logistical aspects, including providing arrows, bows, clothes and tools.

Al Ain First Volleyball Team kicked off its new season by holding the team’s first training session in Al Ain Club. the training session was attended by H.E. Khamis Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of Al Ain Sports Games Club Company, Abdullah Al Darmaki, Vice Chairman and Volleyball Team Supervisor, and Saleh Al Shouaili, Member of the Board of Directors of the Handball Sector.

The session was managed under the supervision of the Greek Coach Janis Kalmazidis with the participation of Bosnian professional player Isaac and the majority of the team’s players.

Noteworthy, Al Ain training program consists of two phases. The first phase kicks off by holding the home camp which concludes by 20th August 2019. The second phase will be kicked off in Poland, which will start on 22 August and finishes by 5th September 2019.

Al Ain First Handball Team has launched its first training session marking the new season. The training session was attended by H.E. Khamis Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of Al Ain Sports Games Company, Abdullah Al Darmaki, Vice President and Volleyball team Supervisor, and Saleh Al Shouaili, Board Member of Al Ain Sports Games Company.

Organized by the Fans Affairs Office of Al Ain Club, the activities of “Sayfuna Ainawi” Program were launched. The public event is scheduled to be held during 28th July- 1st August 2019 with the participation of several private and public entities.

In the presence of more than seventy participants of all nationalities, the activities of “Sayfuna Ainawi” were launched on Sunday 28th July 2019.

The activities included holding training courses and delivering various educational lectures by the Emirates Heritage Club. The experts of the club delivered lectures and presentations to the youth about the Emirati identity, local heritage, folk crafts, famous food, heritage games and many other items that tell the story of the old generations. The activities of the club also included holding the heritage tent where the organizers exhibited the Emirati customs and traditions and how to honor the guests. The tent also included a two-day handicrafts exhibition.

Abu Dhabi Police organized several different activities that attracted participants’ attention. AD Police delivered awareness lectures on the security of transport and public relations along with a live demonstration on the traffic patrol and processes of receiving and responding to reports. Participants also had the chance to test the receiving and responding to reports from within the patrol. All children expressed their deep pleasure for such an incredible live experience.

Children attended AD Police demos were so excited and pleased to watch the demonstration presented by the Security Inspection Department at Abu Dhabi Police (K9). The display of police dogs attracted their attention, especially as they showed high levels of intelligence of police dogs in carrying out difficult and complicated tasks. The attendees were impressed by the unique capabilities of these dogs and the high-quality skills of the coaches. Dogs showed a high level of physical ability, agility and harmony, and quick response to the orders of their coaches according to the nature of each operation. By the end of the show, officers of the Abu Dhabi Police distributed brochures and gifts to the attendees.

Al Ain Distribution Company held an exhibition dedicated to display photos and to deliver a lecture aimed at changing the daily habits and behaviors of the citizens and spreading the culture of awareness of the importance of rationalizing the consumption of water and electricity and abide by the requirements of achieving security and safety at homes.

The Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company participated in the program by holding several activities for students, including workshops to educate students on accurate and improper behaviors in using sewage networks. Additionally, the officials of the company distributed educational materials including all useful information about the company’s activities, including the “Educational Manual for Young Kids” which includes an overview on the company, introduction of characters, method of wastewater treatment, as well as ways to contribute to the protection of sewage networks.

The medical program included delivering raising awareness medical lectures focused on nutrition and first aid courses held by Al Ain Pharmacy and Rana Medical Center. Also, students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Emirates University delivered lectures and held awareness workshops on first aid and made conducted a demo on how to treat superficial wounds. The Specialized Medical Care Hospital also participated with a demo on the hospital’s ambulance and roles of its medical team. Ain Al Khaleej Hospital also attended the activities by a representative medical staff.

Al Ain Media Company also organized training workshops on skills of photography and video. The workshops included an introduction to types of cameras, lenses, methods of taking shots, and selecting and the appropriate angles. The attendees interacted enthusiastically with the trainers.

The Shooting Team at Al Ain Sports Club conducted practical training sessions on the use of the bow and arrow.

The last day for the “Sayfuna Ainawi” Program will be Thursday 1st August 2019. During the days of the program, the Community Development Department, the Economics Department, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of UAE University are scheduled to participate in mobile exhibitions, training workshops, awareness lectures, organizing competitions and distributing gifts presented by various entities taking part in all the Al Ain Club’s societal activities.

Ali Al Darmaki, Hareb Jumaa and Saeed Al Naqbi are Superheroes

The UAE National Judo Teams were the stars of the youth and junior competitions of the West Asian Judo Championships organized by the Jordan Judo Federation in cooperation with the West Asian Federation. The championship was concluded on Sunday 21st July 2019 and was hosted at Al Hussein Youth City’s Princess Sumaya Hall in Amman- Jordan with the participation of 285 players representing nine countries: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Yemen, and Jordan.

Inaugurated by HRH Prince Hassan Bin Talal, Chairman of the Higher Council of Self-Defense, and attended by H.E. the Ambassador of UAE, Ahmad Ali Al Bloushi, the UAE Judo Teams were placed second in the general standing table of the championship. The UAE teams clinched 11 gold medals, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals by the end of the West Asian Judo Championships for the youth and junior players.

Over 90 Kgs of youth competitions ended by UAE winning the gold medal when our team’s player Hareb Abdul Rahman Jumaa won the Lebanese player. That was the second medal as our player Ali Hassan Al Darmaki clinched the first gold medal in the opening day in over 100 Kgs competitions. The third gold medal was won by our player Saeed Al Naqbi in the competitions of under 73 Kgs when he downed Jordan’s player Ibrahim Ghaith in the final round. Rashid Al Hosani also won the bronze medal of the under 60 Kgs competitions to add to a new medal won by a junior team on the first day of the championship.

In the first day, Hareb Jumaa won the silver medal of the under 100 Kgs competitions, while the second silver medal was won by Ahmed Faisal in the under 55 Kgs competitions and the third silver medal was won by our player Ahmed Jasem Al Thumairi in the competitions of under 60 Kgs. Meanwhile, our players won four bronze medals in the inauguration day of the championship and as follows: Ahmed Al Hosani (60 Kgs), Saeed Al Naqbi (Under 73 kgs), Khaled Al Shehhi (66 Kgs), Abdullah Nematov (73 Kgs). Our team missed the efforts of Issa Al Thumairi who was injured in his first game in the preliminary stage in weight under 73 Kgs.

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Derie, President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association, expressed his deep pleasure with the outstanding results achieved by the “Hope Team” to be stars of the championship.

H.E. Al Derie underlined: “The teams’ achievements in Macao and Hong Kong championships were a positive indicator of the teams results in the West Asian Judo Championships hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The sons of our beloved homeland confirmed that they are up to the challenge when they exhibit their genuine fighting spirit during the intense competitions that our brotherly country, Jordan, organized well and to raise the UAE flag high. Such an achievement reflects their love for their dearest homeland and it triggers the motivation to show more interest in the youth and junior Judo teams. These great teams are on the right track and thanks go to the plans and strategies adopted by the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association. Indeed, these superheroes deserve to be honored for their great efforts during the three championships.”

Al Derie availed the opportunity to extend his sincere gratitude and appreciation to H.E. the UAE Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ahmed Ali Al Bloushi, for his continuous attention and follow-up to the UAE Judo delegation. “H.E. Ahmed’s keen attention and interest was one of the factors led to such an outstanding record achievement by clinching 11 medals and placed second in the general standing table and be the stars of all Asian competitions.”

H.E. Al Derie also hailed the efforts exerted by all members of the delegation headed by Mohammed Jasem, Assistant Secretary, and coach of the Japanese team Haraguchi Noya, and all member clubs and coaching teams in judo clubs in UAE which contributed to the high level of junior and youth players. He stressed: “The coming phase will see more attention be paid to the junior teams through the development of the competitions of the Association and giving the opportunity to the talented players to participate in the away training camps, as well as playing against various high levels judo schools to help to boost their performance in the manner that enables them to win medals and titles.”

H.E. the President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association also issued his directives to the concerned to provide the required medical treatment to our player Issa Al Thumairi who was injured in his first match of the opening round of the championship.

H.E. Bin Thaloub availed the opportunity to express his sincere wishes of success to the team to win their matches scheduled to be held today, Sunday 21st July.

Dr. Matar Rashid Al Darmaki, Chairman of Al Ain Football Club Company, stated that the establishment of Al Ain Media Company, which includes a comprehensive television channel and an institute for training and attracting talented media stars, as a paradigm shift in consolidating the concepts of professionalism. “It is a step forward to further enhance the principle of communication with the private sector, to improv the club’s services provided to the sports fans,” he said.
